Not a bodge, but while out on a training ride one evening 10 miles from home Eric's chain broke, so I had to push him all the way home. Hard up hill but a doddle going down.
My Viva frequently broke it's clutch cable which meant starting in gear, and trying not to stop at junctions or lights. Not fun.
And of course the 'broken fan belt' that required your lady passenger to sacrifice her tights for an emergency repair.
