I think a lot of the spectators now are too young to remember the GT.HO, XU.1 and Charger battles in the top class then there were the Alfas, Capris, Escorts that were not that far behind. Lets hope GTP lives up to it's promise and we have that sort of racing back again.
Times have changed, no offence but stop living in the past. Go and watch GTP if you want that type of racing, V8Supercars are far from perfect but it is Australia's most professional and premier motorsport series and I think we should all make the most of what we've got. I read alot of people are saying 'wasn't it great in the good old days?' Take Group C for example, I mean I wasn't old enough back then to remember but have watched and read enough about those times to have half an idea. The gaps between the cars were huge compared to today. Realistically, there were perhaps 4-5 cars that could win a given race. Usually it was Brock or Johnson, with Moffat in the RX7 thrown into the mix. The arguments about homologation of various parts sounded like they would pale any parity debates from today's series into insignificance. Yes back then we had variety of cars, but hell there were alot of flaws with 'the good old days' that you people fail to mention. Times have changed, as much as I disagree with some principles of the V8 formula, it is what it is and let's make the most of it. As promax said, you watch every race and come on here for hours discussing the series, if you hated it so much then just stop watching...

TC is a cockhead in many respects, and his views on taking the series to China, the constant street circuit push and attitude towards other categories I do disagree with. But someone said anyone could promote it like he has; well not true really. It was him and IMG who had the vision and took the risk in 1996 (when the series was in a shambles I might add) to make it into what it is today. Along the way it hasn't exactly been smooth sailing, but the permier Australian category has never been more popular and it should be appreciated for what it is...

My significant moments:

- V8/2Litre split
- Parity debate
- Lack of passing/domination by one team
- Introduction of AVESCO/IMG and the rise of TC
- Clipsal 500
- Franchise system
- TWR 'umbrella'
- '99 Bathurst introduction to the championship
- Holden domination/Ford performance issues
- Influx of younger drivers following Lowndes
