It was a ten year sponsorship commitment, which allowed for the short cut to be put in to make a short track, which is rarely used now as wall changes on the main straight prevent most events using it.
The deal was only put to Alf and not offered to other club members who may have been in a position to match or better the offer. Upset some members at the time.
