The cheapest short term option would be to grab a bunch of TA2 cars, drop 6 speed sequential boxes in, run 18 inch radial tyres, and we have a cheaper version of what they are developing now. If they want centrelock wheels you could use a bolt on conversion.
Then in 3 years after the new category owners have settled in they can go to gen 3 (whatever that is).
