While IMSA's 2020 calendar hasn't been announced yet, the date when Sebring should be held is pretty much set: — the traditional date for the 12 Hours of Sebring is the third Saturday in March (March 21 in 2020). Sebring International Raceway usually starts promoting the next year's event (with dates) even before the IMSA schedule comes out.

I suspect this is just the WEC wanting to make sure the event works in 2019 before completely committing in 2020. I would also agree that a combined race weekend at Sebring isn't the long term solution.
