Jesper OH should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

He also said that if this repair was declared illegal then every other car out there was also illegal, as they would all have endured similar repairs over time.

The earlier issue also quotes the "56 points from his current 55 tally." I'm wondering how that works? Tell me if this is right: 9 for the victory; plus 6 for the second; a maximum score is 10 (9 for win, +1 for fastest lap), so 2x2 means plus 40 points; plus his 1 point for fastest lap in Rd.7? Equals 56 for me!
That's the result I get too.

I looked in the issues beyond No. 491 and saw no mention of any further appeals so, unless anything appears in Autosport to the contrary, I think we can safely assume that Rouse was indeed the 1989 Class A champion.
This then is were things will get a little complicated, because if the Andy Rouse results from round 7 and 8 stands as they were, a win and a second, then everybody behind him in these two races will loose a point or two screwing with the exact number of several top class A drivers on the BTCC site.

Thank you for looking up the details, William, as I for the last 20 years thought that Rouse winning class A of 1989. Now it seems that he did do it after all.

So, Mike Newman, started 8th, retired early?
No mention of Mike Newman in the results or the race report, but the qualifying reports Mentions Guy Edwards in seventh with Mahony and Newman next up. In the results table Mahony is 9th with Mike Smith in 10th and no 8th mentioned, but looking at the YouTube clip the line-up should read Newman in 8th, Mahony in 9th and Smith in 10th. I missed this when I tabulated my version of the Autosport results. Here's another link for Birmingham coverage:

The site contains several other 1980s BTCC races, but haven't gotten around to find out what, when and where just yet.
