I see no reason for GTE to exist. Factories spending huge amounts of money to make a car which goes only a little faster and looks essentially identical to one which can be bought off the shelf is insane.
Allowing factory-supported/run teams to enter WEC/Le Mans with GT3 cars immediately boosts grid variety, reduces costs and goes some way to simplifying global sportscar racing.
