Scrutineering yesterday was fun. Normally it’s indicated on the paddock plan we receive where the scrutineers will set up camp. (Separate for each grid). This time nothing in advance. After lunch a team of Italian scruts start checking the 60s E cars. No sign of the PA guys, so we assume that they’ve been ousted on this occasion! Normal procedure is, if the car passes, the season sticker is signed on the car. The Italian declines, until a senior guy arrives and points out that it needs to be done. No permanent marker, so I gift them mine, and we get a signature.
All done? Nope, because then the PA French team roll up and wonder what the F is going on! Quite a lot of arm waving and raised voices..... So, despite being checked and passed, we now queue up for a second session with the normal guys. Great way to waste half an afternoon. Not!
