Actually, Peter, it was myunderstanding that Monaco is always on Ascension Weekend. Given that the date of Easter is tied to the Lunar Calendar, The date of Ascension day can vary quite a bit from year to year.
I would guess that the Date for Monaco each season drives the arrangement of the entire F1 Calendar as a result.
