Malcolm Smith should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
July 1st

Tropical conditions were enjoyed by all competing and spectating at Knockhill,
where fifteen entrants contributed to excellent racing,

First time for a Cobra front row in qualifying, Robert Bremner one second faster than Alasdair Coates. The same order was maintained at the end of the first race, albeit with a larger gap of nineteen seconds. Raymond Boyd, in his recently turbocharged Porsche 911, appeared to be joined to the rear of Coates’ car as they crossed the finish line.

John Kinmond - Rover SD1, was fourth, followed by Andy Graham - TR7V8, Bruce Mitchell – Lotus Europa, Jimmy Crow – Escort RS2000, Alastair Baptie – Fiat X1/9,
Mario Ferrari – Alfa Sprint, Andy Walker – Mallock Type R, Michael Longstaffe – MG Midget, Martin Ramsay – XR2, Duncan O’Neil – XR2, William Conway – Mini 1275GT
and newcomer William Currie – XR2.

Bremner retired from the lead of race two after four laps. Coates inherited first place but was passed by Boyd, who remained in front to the end. Graham was third, with Crow, Baptie and Conway completing the top six.

The next races are on 4th and 5th August.
