Super Production car causes fatal injury in testing
Just a week after Audi sportscar racer Michele Alboreto was killed during testing at the Lausitzring, a marshal has also lost his life at the East German venue after being struck by a car during testing.
The 43-year-old marshal, who has not been named, was hit by Sandro Vogel’s Super Production-spec Opel Astra when he ran on to the track to recover a front spoiler which had come off a BMW during an open test session today (Thursday). He was struck while he was running back to his post and was killed instantly.
Privateer racer Vogel was testing in preparation for the DTC (Deutsche Tourenwagen Challenge) race at the Lausitzring’s road course, scheduled for May 13. Eye witnesses report that no yellow warning flags were being shown to indicate the marshal was on the track at the time.

Terrible news. The Lausitzring is certainly having some awful luck in it's inaugral year.
My condolences to the marshall's family.
