Gutted

Another sunny Snetterton day, and good to catch up with several tenthers!

Sadly the Touring / Stars of 70s race, which was 'coming to me' according to a bystander (whatever that means!), finished abrubtly for me when after about 15 minutes the gear lever snapped off just above the ball. Was 6th at the time, and had closed right up on Mark Wright's Escort which was sliding about on it's own oil and looked a real handful. It was retired at the pit stop. When the lever broke it left me in neutral so pulled off onto inside at Coram well out of way. Rather than wait for tow at end of race a friend went to van and got some mole grips. With these clamped onto stub of lever got back to paddock through infield a lot sooner!

Dan Cox was sharing Vince W's Capri and put it on pole, followed by Wrigley (Escort) and the Scragg XJC. Young's CSL was 4th, followed by Wright, Laki Christophorou (Escort) and me 0.2 seconds apart. Race was won by Wrigley after the Capri started to slow later in race- eventually finishing 3rd with gearbox problems behind the CSL. Simon D's Turner was going well- but he can tell his own story!
