Absolutely, it us just a rip off and further bureaucracy to justify their (MSA,FIA) cushy overpaid jobs at our expense. The cardiologist that did my last ecg told me the medical was more extensive than the one he does for a pilot!

If my heart gives up while racing I may hit the barriers at high speed, possibly, just possibly, hit another car with a full cage and a driver in a full harness and helmet whereas on the road I am much more like to hit another car which might contain a whole family AND I might be driving a 44 tonne truck.

As for the inevitable "it saved my mates life so I am happy to pay it" argument, those that want to know if they have a dicky ticker can go and have a medical anytime they want; the rest of us could conduct our own cost benefit analysis of the procedure.

Those of an ignorant socialist persuasion (sorry about the tautology) should advocate for an annual medical for everyone -- at someone elses expense of course.
