Homologated cars run on homologated capacity and homologated location which was capped by Appendix J of the period anyway. As an example you can find that some cars were homologated with the maximum number on the form but reality was that that the standard fuel tank was smaller than the figure, still it permitted to fit the right capacity tank if required providing the location was respected.
On the non-homologated car, the capacity is capped by the Appendix J and location is "as it was, so it should be".
