Or is there a particularly good 1:43rd?

Quartzo has done some 43s and 18s. The 43s look a bit poor and the 18s look..., well fine for the money I suppose but not spectacular.

Half of these seem to be incorrectly listed, which isn't helpful. But apart from Exoto, these seem to be the only ones available. Price is reasonable - quality is up to you to decide if these are good enough.

If you're after something historic then Norev have a couple of nice ones out at the moment which are cheap and 1:18. Porsche 962s and 917ks for example.

Norev can be a little hit and miss. The Audi R10 was great, but the Peugeot 908 was crap. But on the flip side, AutoArt did a 917k that was absolutely horrendous, especially for the price. The Norev one looks much better. I think (but not sure) that Norev supplies tobacco stickers with the Lucky Strike and Rothmans Porsches as well.
