Of course it was a copy, doesn't matter if IMG ran it already. Their original plan with 16 cars, five heats and everybody meeting each other once was scrapped fortunately.
The rise of rallycross isn't down to IMG's system either, it is down to their promotion. Just because they made it more like speedway didn't translate into its success, their promotion meant success.
And what do you mean with "win over the clubs and tracks"?
