Driver of Jag could potentially be Roy Salvadori. I know that after Salvadori, John Sparrow and my Grandfather, Mike Pendleton, raced 1628VC. But from speaking to Mike Pendleton, he said that when him and Sparrow raced it they had taken the front bumper off, hence why I think this picture may have been taken before they got it.
After it passed through the hands of Sparrow and Pendleton, 1628VC started a new career in Drag Racing and had a huge 7litre Chevy put under the bonnet. When John Suckling found it it was in a desperate state. He totally restored the car in 1998 ready for Tiff Needel to race it at the 1998 Goodwood Revival. A few weeks after that race, 1628VC sold at the first ever Barons Car Auction. The car is still raced today!
