Going back to VSCC
Agree with the points made about the Club in its present state.
We used to do odd event but it was not a great fit.
Won a race at Snetterton so next time we entered found we were not on start list as driver to quick!
We do MRL Pre war races which are 40 / 60 mins rather than 5/8 lap sprints
A few people have been lost to the rally group but that is less strong than 8/10 years ago when it was led by ERA.
The present organisers are not in same class as earlier people
A few of us would question the fancy hotels point!
Been stuck in some real iffy joints
None of today’s rallies approach the standard of Liege Rome 15/20 years ago
Our programme this year for Pre War includes four MRL races ( Donington, Silverstone, Thruxton and Spa). Our main event Le Mans Classic and Flying Scotsman Rally
The days when we would do three major rallies a year are over.
The thing I most miss is Euro Classics that we’re not competitive but visited over the years most major circuits in Western Europe where you were allowed to go round in circles for an hour all the main rally stages plus interesting places .
Another subject.,JT’s car .
Like many cars Alfa had saloon body discarded and made into an open sports like 8c body.
Most VDP Bentley’s are saloons rebodied and one of the Talbot people specialise in producing replica 105’s based on old log books and new parts
That’s the way it is!
