They start as normal Cup's. Then they put on a bunch of RSR bits, ABS, launch control for the standing starts (no traction control though), bigger rear wring, bigger front splitter and more power.
I'm not sure why nobody didn't just bring over a GT3 R, maybe it's because they've slowed morphed into what they currently are and nobody wanted to start from scratch.
Here's a lap around Sonoma in the GMG WC Porsche from this season. It was my first time driving a WC car.. noticeably more downforce than a normal Cup. The clutch/flywheel are extremely light and combined w/ engine internal differences and ECU mappings it makes for a super response engine.
