I echo what has been said above. I wouldn't take your child to Daytona. There was this Dutch couple in the main grandstands at Le Mans right next to me and I've never seen such a terrified little kid.
Daytona is noisy, extremely long, and, for a kid who probably isn't that interested in racing, quite boring. Also, it'll be pretty easy to lose him/her in the crowds. Try him/her out with another event first. I'd say even the Daytona 500 would be easier to handle.
My two cents - try if you want, but I'd advise against it. :/
