So if mechanical problems occur, or fatigue sets in a lift back to base would be a good idea. Maybe some one without a bike could man a phone to take 'emergency calls for assistance from anyone stuck beside the road.

I'll have a couple of spare inner tubes and a CO2 inflator with me but maybe the broom wagon is something worth considering. The weather forecast is looking pretty good at the moment.
