it is my humble opinion that they were being overcautious and wanted uniform track conditions before taking to the track, despite running “road” tyres that are effectively a wet and that aren’t really fit for purpose as a dry tyre anyway.
but hey, it’s their party and they can run it how they like. glad to see everything mostly went without a hitch on the new cars at least.
