Quite right. The Monaro was built for Holden by Garry Rogers Motorsport (who run in VASC also) specifically to run in the GT type Procar Australia-run Australian Nations Cup, (ultimately developed to became the Aus GT Championship) and specifically at the Bathurst 24 hour race (which lasted two years only) against Lambos Ferraris etc. It ran a Corvette C5-R 7.0 litre (427 cui) developed further by GRM from the Le Mans spec engines. (Despite the fact the road going Monaro 'only' ran a 5.7 litre. There were plans for a 7 litre road car but it never materialised from a cost POV) They were ruled out of the Aus GT Championship because of the 7 litre motor.

Only four of the Monaro race cars were ever built. I know one is in the Bathurst Museum.

The yellow one pictured was known as the Nuclear Banana!
