Bathurst is one of those circuits you can short-shift at and it wont affect your lap time too much.
Also, as eluded to in an earlier post, the amount of safety cars that bathurst has, should help Holden preserve fuel.
Besides, arent tyres more of an issue in recent years then fuel anyway
