I'll reply to Diz's insults when I have more time.
My first visit to Aintree was in 1960 or 61, parked the motor bike near the Melling road and walked the entire
length of 'the longest ad. hoarding in the world' to
spectate from somewhere near country, so I never actually
saw cars racing on the GP part of the circuit. I think
Surtees or Hailwood won the (probably) F2 race.
