I can think of a few in NASCAR stock car racing:
Sam Ard (severe injuies in a race accident)
Robbie Moroso (died, off track accident)
Tim Richmond (died, illness)
Adam Petty (died, practice accident)
These drivers had a lot of potential and talent but were never really able to achieve their ultimate potential because of injury or death. Who knows what might have been had they raced longer.
