The biggest factor moving the score up from the last one (from 6 to 7) is the track's surroundings.

Honestly, it at least seemed like there were more overtakes throughout the French GP (at least as far as what was caught on camera) than in Austria.

I didn't care for the run-offs at Paul Ricard, but the way the striping was at least helped a little with the sense of depth, and also, having the plain asphalt in between muted the impact of the bright paint to some extent. (If next year's French GP is sunny, I'll have a better idea of the true impact.) In Austria, with a couple of the shots of the last corner, and that low, zoomed shot of Turn 1, the solid, bright paint was actually more disorienting and dominating in the picture. And then, of course, there was that projected star between Turns 7 and 8, as well as that other CGI thing that kept flashing up on the hill to the inside of the last corner. (Maybe the difference in the impression of these differing stimuli is a function of you guys having binocular vision.)
