Was looking through the 1985 Great Race book and it says that the Grice/Harrington VK from 1984 was converted to Group A specifications by Roadways and was then sold to Tony Kavich, who went on to use it in Yellow Pages colours in 1985, '86 and '87. I have a feeling this shell might have been used for Kavich's AUSCAR, because the VL he used in 1988 was brand new.
