For me it has to be the IRC - several manufacturers, great tv and internet coverage and serious competition.
It has the real rallies that stir the blood - Monte Carlo, San Remo and the Safari - and flexible rules that allow proper night stages.
I'm not sure I want to see the series converge - it would probably just result in the WRC suits ruining the new series!
