It replaces Rapid, which never sold well except in it's native Czech Republic. Skoda decided that this was because the Rapid felt cheap and rattly, which it was. But it was also cheap to buy, and I think they're intending on nudging Scala up a few clicks on the price scale. In fairness it's a decent looking Hector, more modern platform and engines and a nice clean modern interior. If the price is right it should sell well.
