In addition to limited coverage and some other things mentioned here, I think it's partly because there's not much 'new' to look at.

No new cars or updates to the LMP1s over the winter, except for the full low df kit in Rebellion Oreca and the Zytek engine change to CLM. But those are very minor things, not the "great unknows" we had every year for the last X years. We know what the cars and teams are capable of.

All LMP2s are spec cars with nothing new in them.

And GTEs will get re-bopped 5 times before race day even begins so the times mean nothing, even if they weren't sandbagging which they obviously are.
