Indeed, it's a different issue in TCM where an old car body may be hiding the horrors of shoddy filler work, which can only be uncovered by acid dipping.
Curious that Team Johnson are going to cage an old shell, unlike the flatpack approach used by Oscar "Man of a Thousand Springs" Fioranotto's Supashock to construct the Rusty French TCM Mustang from the floorpan up, to claimed 0.5mm accuracy IIRC...

The ability to construct a brand new bodyshell would seem reason to stick with Mustang and replace Mustang Sally with a new improved Mustang of tighter tolerances and other enhancements, but Team Johnson seem to instead be siding with fan sentiment instead of strict engineering considerations...
