NZ was run as the next round after the GC for quite a few years - the windows of available time in NZ are limited and late Oct / early Nov seems to work better all round.
With NZ being a flyaway round it's a bit better than it used to be - using ships in the early days the teams were at the docks loading onto the ship one or two days after the GC race on quite a few occasions.
