Malcolm Smith should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Eighteen drivers attended the reverse direction meeting at Knockhill on 9th July.
A combination of mechanical difficulties and accident damage meant that there were only twelve who finished each of the two races.
Nevertheless, it was an entertaining spectacle and was encouraging that there were new competitors and guests returning.

Paul Green won the XR2 category on both occasions, on his first championship outing.
William Foster, MGB, was another first time attendee, although his racing was curtailed due to mechanical problems.
Mazda MX5 drivers Andrew and Neil MacGregor were welcome guest entries, following several appearances in recent seasons.
Colin Calder switched from his Lotus Elan to the ex. Harry Simpson G4R, second in race one and retired from the second.

Continuing his dominance at the front, Andrew Graham, TR7V8, won both races. Charlie Cope, VW Golf GTi,
was championship sponsor, Edinburgh Watch Company, driver of the day, taking third in the first and second place in race two.
Championship leader, Alastair Baptie, Fiat X1/9, was fourth in race one and third in race two.
Mario Ferrari, Alfasud Sprint, had a fifth and fourth place respectively.

In race one, positions six to twelve were taken by Niki Dickson, Lotus Cortina; Barry Eastaugh, MGBV8;
Michael Anderson, Fiesta; Andrew Macgregor; Neil MacGregor, Paul Green and Duncan O’Neill, Fiesta XR2.
Eastaugh and Dickson were fifth and sixth in Race Two, with Andrew MacGregor seventh.
Ewan Anderson performed substantial work on his BMW2002 which was damaged in race one,
to take eighth place. Remaining finishers were Michael Anderson, Neil MacGregor, Green and O’Neill.

The next event is at Anglesey on 5th and 6th August.
