I hoped for Rossi at Meyer Shank. Sad. So Rossi to RLL now? |

No one but the boss signed. Wouldn't be surprised to see Rossi and Vips in them

Lots of performance in him in the right team but does he have any backing to bring? |

That seems like it may be the sticking point, the remaining seats need to bring some budget. Hopefully he gets a seat, and if not full season, Indy.

https://racer.com/2024/09/23/indycar...m-owners-sign/ And we have 10 teams signed on for the 25 spots, plus the two Prema cars that aren't chartered. |

Not sure what the benefit of the charter is over the current system other than maybe selling the entry to another team and giving Penske some of that selling price. Couldn't a new team just wait out a failing team and then get the open charter for free later, or at least discounted. But I kinda skimmed it and didn't get too in depth beyond the Racer read
Interesting bit is the limit to 3 drivers in your car for the season and publicly calling it the Dale Coyne rule. |

The first version of such a system that I know of is when the V8 teams in Australia formed their own group in 1993 or so to represent team views and then went to what was originally a franchise model but which has morphed into a charter system these days.
Benefit of such a system to the teams is that they have more value intrinsically. Rather than having a legend selling up and having a workshop, transporter, couple of chassis and some spares (so not a great amount of value) the charter system adds value as it becomes the only way to get into a series. Due to that increased value, it also becomes more possible for team owners to sell equity or borrow against company value to allow investment. It is of course why so many sports have gone down this path over time - it's generally a two-way street as well, with teams committing to attend races, so that the series owner can guarantee fields when "selling" events featuring their series to potential promoters. Given that CART had team equity with some similar benefits, it is a bit surprising that it's taken this long to get back to having something along these lines (with the lessons of what worked and what didn't in CART applied of course). |
