Another adventure over . I had a dramatic spin on lap four but avoided the barriers “ just “. Really enjoyed the weekend apart from some interesting French ideas . It’s changed since I was last here in 2005. Still a treat to race around the streets . Onwards to Castle Combe now .

It's gone very quiet........
Unlike yesterday at Oulton where I went to watch the last rounds of the Alfa Romeo Championship Association 2024 season.......... Mid afternoon the clouds began to gather and the odd lightning flash was seen with distant rolls of thunder, and then increasingly close thunder and then one almighty lightning flash and instantaneous crash of thunder as the rain pelted down......... All was quiet on track (2 races still to go) and eventually as the rain died down the Safety Car splashed its way around.....and then a little later we spotted all the marshals at Cascades packing up and moving to their cars.....so we trundled down to check - to be advised that the lightning strike had apparently taken out Race Control's power - so no timing, no signal lighting panels, and no PA. Meeting abandoned - although with no PA, nobody in the padock knew, so we went and broke the news to the Alfa crews, who were due to be last race of the day for their second (and final of the season) outing. A sad and soggy end to the season. By the time I was less than half-way home - I live an hour or so away from the circuit - there was no sign of any rain, of course..... |

That's very disappointing Richard.
We had a spectacular 2 hours of Thunderstorms the like of which I cannot remember seeing before in the UK. A lot of rain too. A brief power cut at one point in the evening. Just enough to force me to reset the clock on the oven and the microwave. .... and, I now suspect, stop the dishwasher in mid-cycle. Not quite as bad as knocking out Race Control, admittedly. |
