2011 Sunoco Porsche Daytona 24hr Concept car
At Silverstone Wednesday I spotted the American Sunoco Daytona 24hr team with their 2011 concept car. Thought its definately worth putting online.
I got a quick bit of film of the car leaving the pits. Dont expect any racing but it is a glimpse of an awesome new race car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsrlWZ8JDLw Was trying to get a video window to open but cant find the right tags! Mods feel free to help me out on this one.. |

Who was the pilot? Was it his/her first time in a DP?
And what's the pipe "extensions"? Is that the big changes in the DPs? |

Was there really a "stir" created at Silverstone, besides the noise level? |

I find it interesting that in the article the car is described as a "brute".

Biased, undoubtedly. However, DP's do handle like brutes in that they don't produce the mega downforce that modern prototypes do and were never intended to. GARRA want(ed) big enough horsepower to give drivers a little bit of throttle-induced over-steer, combined with lower downforce levels that require the driver to wrestle them around corners more than a modern (ACO) prototype.

This thread title is amazing.
GARRA takes NASCAR's laughable use of the phrase 'Car of Tomorrow' to the nth level by making their 2011 concept literally be a car 5 years out of date. PS This is Zak Brown's car. |

Yeah, I thought it was pretty amusing. However, I think the GA article said it was just a DP that created a stir, no concept.
Perhaps OP interchanged prototype with concept. And seeing as how virtually no one outside of the Grand-Am offices has heard of a Daytona Prototype this was probably the first time he'd seen such a thing. Chris |

Frankly it didn't use to and it doesn't need to now. I'm sure I speak for Jeremy and the other mods here in saying that our tolerance levels have reached a point where those who can't behave will find themselves looking for another medium without further ceremony.... |
