If Minardi does race in 2001, which I'm sure they will, who's favorite to get those 2 seats? Gene signed as Williams test driver. Mezzacane is testing Arrows and may even test Prost...
Here are the drivers who are favorite for the ride: Alonso: May be 1 of the drivers if he doesn't end up at Prost. He's the favorite thanks to Briattore. Fontana: He's Argentinian, and the team may be sponsored by an Argentinian Cable Company...Mezzacane has sponsor conflict with this sponsor. Ri.Sperafico: Won Italian F3000 championship, will test for Minardi, had backing. But said he's looking at F3000. Maybe, he'll skip it and go straight to F1. (I hope he goes straight to F1) Pantano: Has said he's ready for F1... Pizzonia: He too said he's ready for F1 and rather skip F3000. Bernoldi: If Red Bull buys Minardi, then he's in. Peter: If Red Bull buys Minardi, then may be he's in too. Servia: Can't find an Champcar deal, maybe he can find F1 $$$? Badoer: If Minardi gets to choose a driver, then may be he'll be back.... Gidley: Why not? If I win 100 Million dollars, I'll sponsor him in F1. Besides, I needed a 10th driver and couldn't think of another..... |

Badoer: Makes sense - a great driver with a lot of experience.
Servia: Another good driver with backing from Telefonica. Something tells me that deal won't be happening... Fontana: Was lined up to drive for them in 2000, so he's of course a possibility. Pizzonia: Another good possibility. |

I don't think it could be Fontana,Pizzonia, Bernoldi or Servia, but Badoer makes sense. In a way it would also make sense to give him the 2nd Prost-seat.But I think Pantano would be a great choice for his great talent.

Tomas Biagi could be a choice, not only if he had money, but also for his talent!

Well, Brett Lee is fast, one of the fastest young guns around. Maybe we ought to give him a go. And he can sing too!!

Giorgio Vinella was Minardi's testdriver during this season, altough I really doubt he got some mileage. He even entered some ALMS races with Riley&Scott and I.F3000, probably to escape total boredom.
The teams line-up depends a lot on the sponsordeals they'll sign so it's pretty hard to predict. I didn't know Mazza had troubles with PSN. I thought because of PSN, Walkinshaw got interested in him. Alonso and Pizzonia are the real hot properties in the names mentioned. Pantano is, let alone probably less talented, still too wild. He makes too many mistakes and is a bit in the phase Alonso was in before he entered F3000, so he'd better not skip that phase. Bernoldi was outpaced by Raikkonen at Sauber, but Red Bull is in full support of him, so who knows. |

Badoer won't go to Minardi.
He said in an interview a couple of months ago that he will never drive for a team that runs around at the back again. He said he would rather continue to be a test driver unless he can get a drive with a team capable of consistently running in the points. Looks like he will be stuck as a test driver then. |

Well, then nobody can help Luca!
He'll be a test-driver forever! Do you think he'd say the same about Prost? Probably yes... |
