Active suspension a la early 90s F1 on water...
Hello you lot, don't know how many of you are around from when I used to be on here, but thought you'd get a kick out of this.
Was watching a fun science show called Daily Planet and they had a piece about a guy in San Francisco who had built a few double pontoon boats with essentially active suspension like the active f1 years, same concept. As soon as I saw it, I thought of the Williams. Apparently it works very well, with an actuator at the front and back of each pontoon. I never come here any more, but thought you'd find it interesting. Not sure if you can find it online, I'll take a look. Cheers to any of you old timers from here. |

An earlier version, smaller prototype, not what I saw on the show, but gives you the idea.
Just an interesting different application of the basic concept, which I always figured came from thinking of how we use our legs as active suspension when downhill skiing. https://youtu.be/m7adsx4hvks |

Hi, just busy with life, still follow motorsport just as much but have very much returned to my other passion, bicycling, when it comes to forum internet time (and I find one must limit this to a certain extent, so biking it is for me now)
Oh, and I forgot to make a Nigel Mansell joke that he'd easily fit into this boat, even at his age now...... |
