Twin-turbo Saleen S7-R
Hi Guys! I just found out there is a interesting thing about the FIA GT 2009 season.
I remembered as the FIA regulation said that all GT1 cars are Not allowed to use twin-turbo engine, however the Saleen S7-R was the Full Speed Racing Team #11 car of the race equips a twin-turbo engine. Only this S7-R was using twin-turbo engine. Here are some info about the #11 Saleen S7-R Chassis No. S7-03-060R (1S9SB18145S000060) I just want to know if anyone could tell me why this car could attend the race against the regulation of FIA GT1. A pic of the Saleen S7-R : |

It wasn't a twin-turbo despite its description. It was homologated as a twin turbo. Not sure of the reasons but, to confirm, definitely not a twin-turbo.

In late FIA GT years, racing cars were renamed using road cars versions name. C6R became Z06 at example. Saleen S7R became S7 twin turbo because was the only road model available.
Anyway S7R used always a poor reliable NA ford 7.0 V8 (surely tuned by roush and yates, but I can't confirm this) |

Yes your very much right on this. The roadcar that the racer was homologated from in the last years of it's racing career was the twin turbo roadcar. There was never a S7R twin turbo racecar. The closest thing would've been the Saleen S7 Competition twin turbo but that was a road car with S7R aero bits. |

C6.R was FIA-homologated as Z06 in 2006 (prob not earlier as street C6 Z06 was not available)
Here are the most recent homologation bits for "both" Saleens Code:
GT 013 USA Saleen Mustang SR SALEEN S7 01.04.2003 2011+ GT1 001 USA Saleen SALEEN S7 TWIN TURBO 01.05.2006 2013 |
