Team AON focus's

Have been told this morning that the 2 team aon focus's are to have smaller turbo restrictors fitted from oulton park round onwards. The size changes from 44.5mm to 37mm.
That'll slow them down abit :-(

Yes, that's right.

Too many teams complaining at Brands Hatch at the speed of the car.

Surprising if true, I didn't really see a massive straightline advantage at Brands Hatch.

might not have seen a big advantage at brands, but i was marshalling at rockingham, they were going around other cars like they were standing still

so how do they justify this? because they didnt do the same to the crappy TDI's in 2008. Jason Plato cries and he gets what he wants. Pathetic.

To be fiar you dont wee Jordan's car waltzing past allcomers on nearly every straight so I can see the BTCC point. Let them have a bit of success and then try and tighten things up a bit.

Audi had this with their A4 Quattro but you couldnt really stop a car from braking better or being quick in the wet!

Banning turbo diesels and allowing turbo LPG doesn't make sense. But okay we have that situation now. I am not surprised to see the Fords getting restricted.

The question really should be how did they justify allowing the turbo-LPG engine in the first place, since unlike the TDi in 2008 this is a configuration not actually in the regs.

Plato wasn't the only one to question the speed of the Focus, he was just the only one to air his views on live TV.

I think the key to having LPG in the rules this year was the difference of AON pulling out & them getting a sponsor like calor! The speed difference at brands on the 1 speed trap was 5mph

I suppose an element of tinkering with restrictions / ballast was always likey to happen given the fact we have so many different spec cars within one series (S2000, NGTC, BTC, FWD, RWD).

And long may it remain so, too.

I'm happy with these small changes, as long as the BTCC sticks to its reasonably club-ish roots, and doesn't let the big money spoil things.

$350k is pretty damn cheap in the professional motor racing world.

I wouldn't count FWD and RWD cars as two different specs. They're both built to the same technical regulations, just different drive wheels.

£350k, not $350k. We're talking about $500k, or €408k.

Why? Because we don't have GBP or Euro keys on our keyboards, and it was 3am. Chill out.

In all fairness, we don't have euro keys either (just noticed that)

the limits on the focus are a little surprising. its still a engine in development so really, the guys at toca ought to give it a bit more time before they start restricting things

I was surprised at the restrictions especially considering at Thruxton (a power circuit) they were no where in terms of pace.

They were the quickest two cars over the start line speed trap in FP1/FP2/Q/R1 and one of the cars was quickest over the same trap in R2/R3.

1st and 2nd over the Sector 1 speed trap in FP2. Other than R2 they had one car in the top 4 on that trap in every other session.

The drop-off in the later races wouldn't have been helped by damage from both cars being thrown at the scenery.

I'd hardly call that nowhere.
