I believe authority has to come from the MSA rather than a particular club, so at the very least, write to Alan Dean-Lewis MBE who was Head of External Affairs (not sure if things have changed). The MSA can provide a document confirming your ability to marshal which does not accept any liability.

But note that you have to be at least an "experienced" grade (red badge as was) to get MSA authority to marshal abroad. (I merely mention this because this is your first post so there is a possibility that you are new to the marshalling game rather than just new to 10/10ths.)

Assuming you are a UK marshal (?) - there's now an online form on the ViM website, which should sort you out with the relevant MSA permission letter.

You must have that lette from Alan D-L as Shelagh points out.

I find it surprising that you've got this far without all the neccesary paperwork in place. I say this because the Canadian's got conned by somebody a few years back who presented them with the "MSA's application to marshal abroad application form" all nicely filled in, but not actually sent to the MSA.

Sadly the Canadian organiser's did'nt think the marshal concerned was fit enough for an F1 event. They certainly became lesss trusting of newbies, unless they were friend of friend sort of thing.

My organizing club is the BMMC, and yes I am an English marshall. The Canadian Automobile club are happy with my experience and told me to make arrangements to get over there which I have done. They just want a letter form my club / MSA

I don't know about Bodysnatcher, but when we travelled to Montreal in 2001/2002 ( Was it Al?) I was told I needed the MSA letter from (Then) Peter Todd PLUS an endorsement from the BMMC. They also needed to see my MSA Record Card when I signed on.

Things probably may have changed - and if you've been told by the organisers (Lynda?) to make your travel plans, then you should be OK.

You will enjoy the CGP and will be well looked after.

Think they trusted me a bit more Mark (lol), but as you say, the letter from the late Peter Todd was an absolute, as was sight of a valid marshal's registration card.

Don't get me started about what the ACO still need to see every year even after 11 consecutive years. (or 12?).

You'll be accepted as you are a course (track) marshal and you're registered with the MSA.

Yeah once you have a MSA License you will be OK.

Remember that getting onto the Island is public transport only so you nearly always arrive just as morning briefing starts even if you get the first train. Just follow the white suits.
Getting off on Sunday can take a while so have a beer, chat to the guys and chill. There are a couple of other Brits I know of going this year and a group from Monaco / France as normal. Also plenty of Americans, normaly non-Canadians make up a good 1/3 of team in total. A good group, well organised GP. You will see a difference with other GPs you may have tried :-)

Enjoy

Got my letter through from the MSA today, no problems. So I'll be marshalling there.
