MikeHart should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Some of my work (56k....go out and get a coffee!)

Only been active on here for a week or so now, so thought some of you might appreciate some of the photos I've taken over the last few years. I'm lucky enough to know a guy who races in FRenault and gets me a media pass every year for the Donington Renault World Series event so I put some of the pics down to the freedom of not having fences in front of me! LOL Hope you like them:

Please have a look at the sticky regarding image size! Then we won't have the 56k problem...

I did indeed see that, but when having a look through all the threads, I noticed numerous people posting large images so assumed it was not a problem. Sorry.

Would anyone on 56k be viewing a picture sub forum as well?

I like some of that, but not others.

The one of the girl is superb, and I talk to Niki Lanik so was happy to see one of his car- by the time i got their last year he'd retired already!

Yeah I don't think he had much luck that weekend!

Some constructive critisism would be useful if you have the time Which ones were you not so keen on?

Points for the one of the grid girl too, it has a nice candid unposed feel to it

Constructive criticism is something most difficult to achieve!

The Niki Lanik one is slightly overexposed, but no biggy. All the F1 shots are the same, really? No real variety.

And the one of the guys around the door from the Britcar makes no sense to me? Probably just me, though.

Some of your images look a bit 'cold' - what white balance setting were you using? Also I have a bit of a pet hate for cropping bits of cars off - unless it's obvious it's supposed to be that way. The two Duller (?) BMW shots have no balance to them......large spaces out the front, bits chopped off at the back.

Perhaps you could try shooting a tad wider angle until you can get your composition sorted out - then at least you can crop the 'spare' to make the image stronger.......we've all done it.....come join the club

As minimangler said, try to vary your shots too. Try some 3/4 front/rear shots, as well as head ons, pans (high and low shutter speed), close ups of drivers in the pits, wider angle shots with focus point off centre top or bottom, more scenery etc.

If in doubt, get some ideas from the likes of Getty or Sutton images - check the F1 sections on their sites for inspiration

Oh lord, I've gone on a bit now haven't I......

Sorry folks, I'l get me coat

Anyway Mike, give it a try - good luck

Personally, I liked the 'formation outbraking team'... But then I'm a sucker for patterns. Found myself taking pictures of the Abbey Zen gravel trap on Saturday in the snow!
I'm finding MiniMe to be quite a challenge, these days, now he has his own gear. Time was I could call my good kit back in when things got interesting...
As said, look around.
Mike works for Jakob Ebrey these days, also search something like Flickr.com for meetings you have been to? See what everyone else is doing. Just, please? Do NOT go down the 45degrees or more angle route, like Mini.... My head's gonna fall off, or lock in place!

Yeah, the angle thing is definitely a taste thing. But once in a while, its worth a silly angle to add a bit of interest. I was getting a lot of stick but ive moved toward more standard stuff with the occasional angle. I have a problem with running fast shutter speeds- i find them boring, so tend to go too slow, and have a fairly low hit rate of good shots. The shots i get i'm more pleased with, but there's less of them.

I think the people shots are just as important- and for me, far far harder to achieve. It's all about working it right.
