The SCAR #50 car of Mr McConville was obviously good enough to lead the race for a while and pull away... Murf certainly was talking about his own car not the 2 team cars

If the team was busting to be at the AGP with 2 cars, Mr Porter would likely be standing in the SCAR garage this weekend, watching over his baby

Perhaps he should have said he is a 6 or 7th placed driver.

Why did they pay Perkins team to step in ? Money ? No agreement with Porter ? Do PWR (aka SCAR) have any ongoing involvement with Porter?

Ear to the ground GTR, or mere idle speculation?

The powder room's view was that the round was a non-championship one, so the SCAR resources were deployed on repairing cars as opposed to refitting them (ala SBR)

Meantime Mr Porter bought the car from PWR, and apparently ongoing technical support (In the press this week is an article claiming that that Paul Weel is set to test the Porter chassis at QR next week) which would include engines etc..

The deal could have been done.. but the powdery types suggested that the non-championship meeting was not important enough in the grand scheme of things (i.e. Mr Murphy has to reclaim the mortgage on Pukekohe in 2 weeks)

As for Mr Perkins running in the #51 slot, well Perkins is the engine supplier to SCAR, and there is a lot of technical commonality between their two teams...

Whispers from the Dandenong powder room a little while back had SCAR as the main user/supporter of Perkins equipment before Perkins decided not to wind down his racing team operations (and keeping the parts manufacturing ticking over) and they seem to help each other to some degree technically, perhaps not just in the engine department

LP was reported in the press this week to have offered a the use of a car for the SCAR drivers anyway, and when they werent taken up, LP gave the Shane Price (ex-Toll) car to Paul Dumbrell for the weekend, while son Jack lined up in the former Autobarn unit in #51 colours...

I just find it very interesting the SCAR decided to favour CM over Mr Potato Head for this weekend, sinnce CM is new to the team. What does that say that PWR have no faith in Mr Potato HEAD and DO have faith in CM. INTERESTING??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

The reason given was that McConville was going to be using that car for the next few rounds at least so it was decided to put him in it to get used to that car. Maybe that is the truth, maybe not.

Why wouldn't Dumbrell use his own car? I don't remember it getting damaged in Adelaide?

My point exactly! I was sitting through the coverage yesterday trying to work out why PD would not be driving his own car. Blowed if I know.

Also why would Jack Perkins be driving the old Autobarn car when at Clipsal he was driving PD's car from the last year???

It's too bloody hard to keep up with the goings on in this V8 world.

Great to see that someone noticed PD doing so well in the Tratt car. So much criticism and nonsense in threads around here lately.

When will this "Mr Potato Head" thing end? I guess he has to win the championship.

And Murphy is a strong Holden supporter. He would never drive for Ford, just like Skaife wouldn't.
