I don't know, but I have had a 1/10th scale nitro RC car doing around the 90km/h mark. It was nothing special, 25% nitro blend fuel, competition exhaust, motor upgrade and a 2 speed gearbox. Within reach of anyone.
The 1/8th scale cars can do 120km/h wihtout too many dramas. Perhaps Mr Kelly (who wanted to be the fastest "indian" according to that article) was trying to set nothing but a jet record... Boys will have their toys... Will the Jack boys put some jets under the fuel tank/boot at bathurst? And have the top gear guys drive the jet components as a "challenge"? |

It might be a waste of time, but I bet when he was on his way home from New Zealand after Hamilton, Rick's mind was on his jet car instead of a hotel room

It was a shame to see it crash in the end, as Rick would have put a lot of time and effort into designing and building that car. Those jet turbine engines are a work of art on their own.
It looked like the bitumen was a little to rough. |

He needs to take the lift out of it and run it on a concrete velodrome. Might have to accomodate the joins though (a bit similar to a footpath).
Should have ample power with 2 of the little suckers (and squeezers and bangers and blowers if you know about the turbine combustion cycle). |
