The Snout should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
St. Louis in 2004

Borrowed from 7th gear forum.

Seems like the cat has been let out of the bag on CART talks for St. Louis.

Venue to be Forest Park, on edge of downtown, currently undergoing major facelift.

Could be like Montreal - semi permanent track in a park, next to downtown, with subway service.

I've been to Forest Park many times, and that's always intrigued me.

However, Pook's group owns Gateway, and that always had a good race. Why doesn't he just kick out the IRL?

I suppose he's hedging his bets.

Not really the sort of thing for the leader of the series to do, isn't it? Straddle the fence like that?

Anyhow, here's my idea for a Forest Park circuit. Again, this is more an F1-style parklands circuit than CART... But I have to have hope.

Cool, looks like there will be passing. (although it's always different when you factor in precise conditions)

Lee, you have once again done yourself proud with the track layout. I didn't realize that this was a possibility. St. Louis is within my 10 hour driving range. I could go to this and in conjunction with the Worlds Fair activities, I could get my wife and girls to take the trip too.

If that is the final track. It looks good. I never liked Gateway and was glad to see it go.

Ahh, Lee... good to see that you're starting to warm-up to the idea of... street tracks.

Parkland circuit, veeten.

Remember guys, this is just _my_ take on it. Though I'm gonna try and e-mail this as far up the ladder at Dover Downs to pook as I can.

What's your point? They were both **** circuits.

And Tamiami was set up like a regular street course, with the carriers right up against the race track.

It's run-off vs. escape roads, grass vs. walls that make the difference between a parklands and a street circuit, when there's a question.

I would advise against that outcropping to the right. It reminds me of the first F-1 race in Detroit. On the first lap they had a traffic jam and most of the field had to come to a stop.

That's at the end of the lap, flatlander. It runs clockwise.

That outcropping actually goes through the parkway under the road the pits are on, then does a 180 and goes up a ramp. It'd be sort of the reverse of the Loews hairpin at Monaco.

That seem not serious

From Chamweb:
St. Louis Race Rumor
We contacted CART about the recent rumor of a St. Louis park race. CART said they do not know anything about it, and therefore, do no know where to begin to comment. We are going to have to put this one in the "BC Motorsports" category...

Everything seems to be stemming from that link Snout posted to open the thread.
http://www.1904stl.com/events.html
It clearly states that CART is going to St. Louis, and even goes to far as to say, "This event will be held the third weekend in September of 2004." But who is the "1904 World's Fair Charitable Foundation"? They claim that their mission is "to help reenergize and revitalize the St. Louis region." The mayor is listed on the honourary board of directors, but then again, so is the governor, the archbishop, and several senators and congressmen.

Yep. I'm also putting this one is the "BC Motorsports" category.

That seem to be true.
Now, the question is, how many race will be on the schedule for the next year???
