Bore of the season, Imola
What a thriller from Italy. A McLaren was lapped. And just think, with all that horsepower that BMW produces, Ralf and Juan were left in the dust, in Italy of all places. At least Massa made a real race pass on Trulli. Formula one 2002 is a sad state of racing. Lets hope it doesnt remain like this for the rest of the yr.

Re: Bore of the season, Imola
Wait till you see Monaco..it's like knowing the race results as soon as the cars had qualified for their grid positions...stupid location to have a race on narrow streets.

Yeah..true it has it's legendary status because of the past 'greats' that had raced there but there are hardly any overtaking chances....remember when DC got held up by Benoldi? then only FIA came up with the blue flag regulation but with the fact that the racing lines just about covers the whole width of the streets that makes it damn boring...what makes it interesting & cool place to be are the scenery & the bikini clad babes on boats

I hope monaco allways stays in the series.Yes it's not even remotely a REAL racetrack, but it is DIFFERENT.There is only one problem-too much downforce!!Imagine the f1 cars going round there with no wings!!!!!!Wouldn't that just be awsome

Just Remember, after the sheer boredom of Imola, we've got Barcelona next. Woohoo! we might just see 2 overtaking moves. Then comes Hungary later on.
Roll on Austria. |

Even though there was not much passing on the track, the coverage we recieved was very good. I was not too bored either. Even not too many battles resulted in passes there were still quite a few. I especially liked to see the fact that the Honda of GF was faster than the Toyota Salo. Even though the both eventually retired. The only boring part of the race to me was JPM. His car was set up wrong so he seemed to just hang on instead of attack.

BORING IMOLA
Attack? Montoya couldnt "attack" because of a wet weather set up? It's ammusing to think attack when in fact No teams couled even stay with Ferrari. I dare say, Betcha Montoya gets it right in Spain.......

At least monaco usually has a high rate of attrition. So even if there isn't any overtaking there is still a chance for some of the smaller teams(ie, Jaguar) to get some points.
But Imola is simply a bore. With the exception of 5th place Jenson Button, all the drivers in the top 6 finished EXACTLY where they qualified. Sadly, I don't think spain well be any better. Last edited by Raoul Duke; 16 Apr 2002 at 22:49. |
