PIARC - Press Release - IPRA Nationals 1st/2nd May

2004 NOLTEC GRUNT NATIONALS MAY 1ST AND 2ND OF MAY 2004
_
I am always amazed at how diversified the levels of Motorsport that we have on offer in this country, and how lucky we are to have the talent behind the wheel that we do.
_
During Phillip Island Auto Racing Club’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2002 a clear decision was undertaken by the PIARC Management committee to look at expanding the number of meetings on offer to every Motorsport category interested and to work closely with like minded organisations who are interested in providing “Access to Motorsport”. With the IPRA we believe we have done that.
_
From PIARC’s stands point it has been a pleasure dealing with all the contributors from IPRA, not forgetting the excellent support from the Formula Vee and Super Karts representatives in making this meeting a traditional standout.
In February 2004, it was a late decision to run the Nationals but one made after great consultation with IPRA as well as the Formula Vee and Super Kart Associations who are all looking forward to a incredible meeting, but with potentially 200 plus entries and with very strong interstate interest, it has proved the correct decision. We will have Ex V8 Supercar drivers, Leanne Ferrier, Ray Hislop, Wayne Wakefield as well as Reigning Victorian Champion Tony Floreani along for the meeting running in Improved Production as well as strong support from the Formula Vee and Super Kart Associations.

The Nationals started_around 1993 at Winton and this will be the 3rd time the Nationals have been run at Phillip Island. 1994, 1999, 2004 with three heat races each with point score to determine grid position in the Main race with a repecharge race for non qualifiers. The Winner of the main race will be known as the 2004 Noltec Grunt Nationals Champion. We will have qualifying together with heats on Saturday and then four heats, the repecharge and the main race on Sunday. It should be a fantastic meeting for all.
_
$450 includes weekend racing and garage for Friday night, Saturday and Sunday as well as a commemorative Nationals shirt, stubby holder and show bag for Improved Production entrants. Tow money is available for interstate competitors and Friday Practice is available for an additional $150 and with Noltec Grunt who sponsored the meeting in NSW aboard looking to expand their exposure throughout Victoria we are preparing ourselves for a very triumphant meeting.
_
We look forward to seeing an exhilarating weekend of close and breathtaking racing during the knock out style format that will be the Improved Production Nationals and I hope to see you there.
_
