F2 Paul Ricard 'La Castellet'
Kind of expecting fireworks...
First time this category under F2/Gp2 guise has been here in the modern era. Heat, surface issues could really show us who's got the mettle to shine. |

Russell takes pole, I think the person meant it the 1st time the cars have race in anger at this track in the modern era.

This new F2 car is awful, sounds terrible, has these constant throttle sensor problems and they still can’t get them off the grid.

Superb race 1 at Ricard from Russell, in a race started on slicks as rain started to fall. Russell stayed out on slicks as some others slithered around and pitted for wets ..... after a few laps the rain stopped and the track gradually dried.
Championship leader Norris had a dreadful day spinning and stalling to dead last a lap down, Russell now 2nd in the title race 7 points behind Norris. |

Norris didn’t spin but he did go off more than once.
Not as entertaining as Ferrucci who really has no business masquerading as a racing driver. Nissany is better. |

Yup, not a great day for MP at all, real shame for Merhi and Boccolacci, two excellent drives and you can only assume they knew nothing about the irregularities with their cars.

Merhi was doing things others clearly couldn’t, so not a massive surprise really. MP had 3 cars DQ / but all were not in compliance with the rules...

Russell wins the throttle problem lottery in race 2, Aitken spun and stalled on the formation lap.
Markelov, both MPs stalled at the start. Fukuzumi stalled on formation lap. Gelael and Makino with power problems, anyone else want one? I mean wtf??? Last edited by tux; 24 Jun 2018 at 10:17. |

Maini started crying down the radio saying the team don’t support him, he does everything, every session and his car breaks down. Doesn’t want to race F2 anymore. Pretty sad to hear to be fair.

To be fair Mehri is an absolute demon in the wet, FR3.5 in Hungary for example, so i wasn't surprised to see him slice through the pack, as it turns out the problem was with the second set of tyres so he had already done the hard work.

what problem was that, the one where the team didn't put enough air in his tyres and he gained a performance advantage or another one?

Yup, as i said Bella, the problem was with the second set, the first set, where he drove past half the grid in damp conditions was fine. You do have to wonder what MP were playing at over the weekend what with the GP3 stuff aswell, doesn't reflect well on them at all.

Who knows if the first set was Legal? Are the tyres after pitstop in "Parc Fermé" nobody can touch them? |

However you cut it up, low TPs are a big advantage.

Seems some ex drivers are now also speaking out on the technical problems.
Not a good look. https://www.autosport.com/f2/news/13...careers--maini |
