Going going gone Ghosn
Do we think this might finally end Cyril’s charmed life?

I'm struggling to spot the link with F1.
Presumably this guy is not involved with the F1 team, and hiring and firing thereof, or have I missed something? |

As the then CEO of Renault, it was Ghosn that was required to give the green light for the F1 team's existence. The take-over of the team Renault was on a knife edge because Ghosn is not a known motorsport enthusiast, and the final decision was considered to be a close call. |

For a guy who has worked around motorsport involved businesses his whole career he was supposedly fairly anti-racing, or at least funding it, according to many reports. I think if anything him not being at the top would give Nissan/Renault a little more freedom from his cut ALL costs to the bone scrutiny. Surprising stance for him given the claims of financial impropriety and personal use of company property but that has been his history in the business from the outside.

Underreporting a total of £34m over 5 years on a combined annual salary from Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi of £13.3m?
5 years at £13.3m pa is £66.5m...so the additional £34m was clearly a necessity! |

Sorry, you're right, that was some Genii Capital guy who owned the F1 team at the time.
